Day on A Plate with model Joy Corrigan

International model, actress, philanthropist, fashion designer… and not to mention some impressive body goals, there’s little surprise that Joy Corrigan has managed to gain a following of over 668K on Instagram.

Growing up in a small town in North Carolina with six brothers and three sisters, Joy moved to NYC where she has since modelled for a number of international brands and publications, founded charity Jadesvine, starred in movies such as Aftermath and Reprisal, and has been busily working on the creation of an eco-friendly clothing line. Girl got talent.

Grabbing some time with Joy in between her various career pursuits, we pulled her aside for the latest in our Day on A Plate series. Here, she shares with Husskie what you can typically find in her eating and exercise regime.

Weekly workout schedule:
I like to practice yoga at the Alo studio in Soho. I also train at the Gym 2-3 times a week using the treadmill or machines.

Wake up:
I typically wake up around 6am on days that I’m shooting. Otherwise, I sleep in until around 9am.

Breakfast:
I usually have breakfast first thing when I wake up. I love to eat berries and pecans/walnuts, and I always have organic cold brew coffee (I make it for the week and keep it in the fridge).

Mid-morning snacks:
My favourite anytime snacks are hard boiled eggs with a dash of cayenne and salt. If I’m travelling, I love to snack on pecans, almonds, walnuts and macadamias.

Lunch:
For lunch, I typically eat salad with tomatoes, avocado, olives and an organic olive oil and vinegar dressing.

Afternoon snack:
I try not to snack too much in the afternoon, I like to save my appetite for dinner!

Dinner:
I usually have dinner around 9pm. I love to cook and for dinner I always mix it up including a protein like salmon, cod, or occasionally some grass-fed beef. I try and eat foods high in fat and low in carbs ⁠– so adding coconut oil or grass-fed ghee to all my dishes makes me feel full quicker and makes every dish delicious!

Dessert:
I try not to eat too much dessert, but one thing I can’t resist is chocolate! I always have some handy in the bottom of the freezer! Also berries and nuts are a great addition to any bite of chocolate…

Bed time:
I use CBD from Kruvana to help me relax before bed. I try to be in bed by midnight during the week, getting at least 6-7 hours is so important to me!

Weekends:
I consider the weekend as my cheat days. I love to go out for French or Italian food and drink lots of red wine. 🙂

Supplements:
Everyday I try to supplement grass fed collagen in my coffee, CBD from Kruvana, Vitamin C, and magnesium.

Guilty treats:
I’m obsessed with the famous chocolate lava “hit me” cake from Catch. Or anything from the bakery at Whole Foods!
