Since launching her blog The Silk Sneaker in 2015, London-based Shloka Narang has been using both the online platform and her Instagram of the same name to deliver audiences her strong sense of personal style and creativity. And while we’ve long been inspired by her laidback luxe take on fashion, it’s her recent dalliances into the beauty realm that have really piqued our interest.
Not afraid to play with colour on both her lips and eyeshadow while remaining true to her high-end aesthetic, we decided to pull Shloka aside to find out a little more about her beauty regime. Here, she talks us through all the skin and makeup must-haves you’d find on a rummage through her beauty cabinet…
THE BAG:
“When I’m travelling, I have my Prada toilet bags that I use to keep all my beauty products. I love them because they hold so many products and are also waterproof so I can wash them and keep them fresh! When I’m on the go around town, I keep my favourite beauty products in a little transparent pouch so I can see everything easily.”
SKIN:
“About a year ago I had a really horrible reaction to something and broke out into hives. Since then, I’ve been very careful about the skincare I use and the skincare I share on my blog. Every morning and evening I wash my face with a Perricone MD Nutritive cleanser and use their pore minimiser toner. I am obsessed! Recently though I’ve been using a new toner from Galinee which I am also loving. I am also totally dedicated to my rose quartz roller, morning and night!”
BASE:
“If I’m wearing a primer, I use the Hourglass primer. It really helps prep the skin but also keeps my makeup on for longer. I use the NARS Radiant creamy concealer currently and I follow that up with a powder foundation from Bare Minerals. If I have a more special occasion, I use Dior Star as my foundation.”
CHEEK:
“I use a blush palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills currently that I am obsessed with. For a bronzer or sometimes even a blush, I use the Guerlain Terracotta (it is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE products!). For highlighting, I use the Chanel Baume Essentiel on an everyday basis or the Cover FX drops for a more special occasion.”
EYES:
“My favourite eyeliner is from Chanel. It’s a stylo, meaning it is a pen that you can use to create the perfect winged eyeliner. I actually don’t wear mascara on a daily basis, but when I do, I am currently obsessed with the Marc Jacobs Velvet mascara. It is really stunning. My favourite eye shadow palette is from Charlotte Tilbury, it’s called La Dolce Vita.”
LIPS:
“My favourite lip balm is from La Mer. My lips get really dry so this one, although pricey, is worth every penny. If not that, then I alternate between the Lano Lips moisturising gloss or the Tata Harper coloured lip balms. In terms of lipsticks, I have a few that I keep buying. I am constantly restocking on the Chanel Lip Powders, NARS Het Loo, Do Me Baby and Bahamas, Very Victoria from Charlotte Tilbury for the perfect nude, and Tom Ford Public Display. I am lipstick obsessed so I feel like I need every single one.”
EXTRAS:
“Sometimes I like to treat my skin and I use the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask; it’s really cooling, especially after I have had a micro-needling session. It’s one of my favourite masks after a night out as well. For a bit of help with my dark circles if I’ve had a late night, I go for the KNC under eye retinol masks. I also like to take a lot of care of my hair. I’m really focused on making sure my hair is healthy. I try to give my hair extra love through oiling it or with a hair mask, especially if I’m using a lot of heat on it through the week.”
SOMETHING YOU CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT:
“A good lipstick is always essential for me and you will always find me with one, even if it’s in my pocket. The other thing I cannot leave my house without is hand cream.”

- Brush your hair 100 times everyday to keep it looking shiny and healthy.
- Never sleep with makeup on, no matter what time it is or how crazy your night, wash your face!
- Never pick a pimple…
