After recently stumbling across Lucia Pang’s Instagram account, we have quickly added it to our long list of feeds to obsess over. While we’re a big fan of her minimal but chic wardrobe choices, it’s her glowing porcelain skin that had us reaching out to find out more. In line with her less-is-more style, her makeup is understated but polished perfection.
We tracked Lucia down in Husskie HQ’s hometown of Sydney to find out a little more about her beauty must-haves. Here, she opens up her makeup bag and lets us have a little peek into all the exact products she uses in her beauty regime.
THE BAG:
A transparent bag has always been my preference. I don’t want to be digging around for a product – so for a long time, if I’m honest, I was just using a ziplock bag, ha! But I recently got the Beis Carry On Cosmetic Case and fell head over heels in love. I now have two, put to good use especially for when I travel: one for my makeup, one for skincare.
SKIN:
Sunscreen always before makeup application. I have actually learnt to look forward to wearing sunscreen since discovering Bioré Aqua Rich Watery Gel Sunscreen. It isn’t oily or sticky, rubs into my skin straight away, and is so smooth I sometimes double it as my primer!
BASE:
I try not to wear foundation on a day-to-day basis as my skin is super dry – some concealer will usually do the trick for me. I have tried what feels like EVERY concealer under the sun and I swear by Korean concealers. My two absolute faves are Clio Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Concealer and Pony Effect Pro Fit Concealer: a little goes a long way as they’re so full coverage and can cover ANYTHING. I also love Morphe’s Highlight and Contour sponge for my base – so much that I literally have a drawer full of backups in case they ever discontinue it (even though I’m pretty sure it is a best seller… I am that paranoid).
CHEEK:
I have been wearing Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter in Moonstone for years and it never gets old. But I am not really loyal to my blushes and bronzers, I have way too many! I do tend to go for peachy coral and brownish nude shades for blush – some faves are Flower Beauty, Burt’s Bees Mineral Blush, and the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk. Bronzers I’m currently rotating are Cover FX Bronzer in Sunset (so silky) and Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer (smells good enough to eat and blends like a dream!).
EYES:
I do a lot of day-to-night makeup alterations so eyeshadow palettes for me need to be capable of creating multiple eye looks AND fit compactly in my bag. My favourite palette to carry around is Smashbox Cover Shot. I also love this cult Japanese mascara called Fairydrops (combined with Shiseido Eyelash Curler). It is extremely waterproof and holds a curl like no other but it is hard to get – so I stock up when I can. I also love NARS Climax Mascara for volume. I hardly wear eyeliner but when I do, my go-to is Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner.
LIPS:
Though I love a good statement lip, I’m mostly all about the nudes: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Hudson is my current obsession. I also own pretty much every colour by Colourpop. Their glosses and Ultra Blotted lipstick are some of my favourite lip formulas ever, so natural for everyday wear.
SOMETHING YOU CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT:
A brow mascara (Benefit Gimme Brow and Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer are my faves) is always in my bag – I can have no makeup on but I must have great brows! It makes all the difference. I prefer brow mascara to pencils because of the convenience when I’m on the go – they mimic brow hairs and are quick and easy to apply.
TOP 3 BEAUTY RULES/TIPS YOU ALWAYS STICK TO:
- Skin first – invest and practice good base prep, which leads to…
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate (I am obsessed with Dr Jart+ masks and Sunday Riley facial oils)
- Practice simple and natural hacks for a quicker glam routine – I use castor oil every night on my brows and lashes to aid them in growing more fuller and longer. It really works if you keep it up! This definitely helps lessen the time when I’m doing my makeup – I have less sparse hair to fill in and don’t need to put on 1000 coats of mascara. Same goes for my super straight hair. If I know I want some voluminous beach waves, I will braid my hair tightly the night before, sleep on it, and the next day I can easily work off the natural volume and curl saving me a lot of time (and heat damage!)
