Turning 26 on Monday, Instagram and YouTube star Genelle Seldon is creating a digital empire with 371K Insta followers and 248K YouTube subscribers to her name. Revealing her secret to success has been consistency, she tells Boldface, “As you get better, remember a fan of yours has three friends and if you are consistent with keeping them entertained, you will grow.”
The green eyed mixed Polish, French and Brazilian beauty grabs nuggets of inspiration from icons such as Angelina Jolie and Adriana Lima, and the resemblance isn’t too far afield. Counting down the days to her birthday, we’ve used the occasion as the perfect excuse to round up a list of the five reasons why Genelle’s our revered Style Spotlight.
1. She’s got big musical dreams
Having played the lead female role in Telegraf’s ‘Do You Wanna’ music video, she’s already on her way to becoming a popstar – a role through which she hopes to inspire women to embrace their “God given beauty”.
2. She’s all about skincare
Growing up, Genelle dealt with many skin issues that affected her confidence, even leaving red marks and scars after they were gone. She tells The Daily Dose, “My skin is so important to me because I believe if your skin looks and feels good, then you look and feel good!” One of her favourite products: the simple moisturiser.
3. She’s rockin’ that bod
She’s got the figure and isn’t afraid to flaunt it. Partial to a tight crop top and figure-hugging dress, there’s no getting over her slayin’ sense of style.
4. Hair as black as coal
She’s a strong advocate for her black hair. Maintaining the colour throughout her Insta feed, she proves to us the versatility of black hair and its ability to take on a myriad of styles.
5. She’s an actress
Starring in commercials such as Gardner White and CBS representing Whole Foods Market, she’s definitely on her way to earning the coveted ‘actress’ title. She’s even played an international enslaved woman in Batman vs Superman… watch this space as we’re sure this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her on the silver screen.
