There are some places in the world renowned for being “influencer destinations”. Bali is one of those places – with influencers travelling there in the masses to enjoy the lush green rice paddies, fresh healthy eats, and pool villas. It even now boasts “home” to popular influencers such as Gypsea Lust, Do You Travel, Bianca Ella Booth, and Lucette Romy.
But while there are some spots in Bali that are the common known stomping grounds for influencers – we’re talking Potato Head, Old Man’s, and Sea Circus – we’ve managed to stumble across one of the less highly-publicised retreats: a place that’s so good we almost didn’t want to share: Belmond Jimbaran Puri.
Set in the heart of Jimbaran on a calm beach that hasn’t yet managed to fall victim to over-enthusiastic travel crowds, the resort is a complete oasis boasting 64 cottages and villas. With an understated entrance that sees you cross a small bridge and lotus pond, it’s only once inside you begin to see just why this place has attracted the likes of Mr and Mrs Monnet (Bea Albero + Jérémy Monnet), Shanti Joan Tan, and Ischtar Isik.
As a foyer with high bamboo ceilings makes its way out to a large freshwater swimming pool with cascading water foundations, just beyond you can see the white sandy beach and the Beach Spa offering traditional Balinese and Indian Ayurvedic techniques. Walking to your villa, you pass through lush gardens and the Balinese architecture that conjures up the original “village” feel of Belmond Jimbaran Puri.
Established in 1981 by a worker from a five-star hotel in Sanur, Bali, the resort’s history began as eleven bungalows with standard facilities. But with growing tourism in the area, it rapidly developed before taking on a more luxury offering when partnering with Orient Express in 2005 – a company familiar in the world of luxury hotels, trains and cruises. With Orient Express undergoing a change in name to Belmond in 2014, Belmond Jimbaran Puri cemented itself as a world-class destination.
Its serene surrounds and fine dining restaurants are enough to put Jimbaran Puri on your travel bucket list… and then you get to the accommodation. With a choice of a one-bedroom cottage, two-bedroom pool villa, two-bedroom garden view pool villa, and one or two-bedroom deluxe pool villas, each one provides its own taste of the luxury life. Interiors feature cool marble floors, teak wood finishings and high-beamed ceilings.
There’s also the extra touches – like a bath you can sink into for hours, a villa for sleeping and a villa for living, a private pool surrounded by palm trees and a flowing fountain, sun houses for relaxing in, and fresh local treats just waiting for you in your room each night. Pure bliss.
If your idea of a holiday to Bali is 5am nights at a club in Kuta, then this is not the place for you. This place is about waking up to absolute tranquility before rolling into your private pool and spending quiet days in pure luxuriousness. You know where you’ll find us…
