Lately we’ve been seeing more and more fashion bloggers jump into designing, with We Wore What’s Danielle Bernstein the latest to launch her own fashion line. Having previously collaborated with brands such as Topshop and Onia, Second Skin Overalls is Bernstein’s first venture on her own and is a personal investment.
Apart from calling on the help of a freelance technical designer, Danielle has done the line solo – sourcing the denim, selecting a warehouse, finding the cuts, choosing and approving details, and even being heavily involved in the design process – sketching overalls on the back of napkins.
“I was known for wearing overalls and people always asked me where to get them, and my favourite pairs always ended up being one-off vintage items. About a year ago, I realised there was a space in the market that I could fill, and I set out to start a line of high-quality, ideal-fitting overalls,” Danielle tells Fashionista.
Revealing all about the range on her We Wore What blog, Danielle comments: “IT’S HERE! @secondskinoveralls has finally launched! For the past year I have been working on creating the perfect fitting overalls for you guys and am so excited to finally share the finished product.
“This first collection – The Basics – consists of 5 key styles in a luxurious cashmere-like denim that stretches but doesn’t stretch out. The fit is unreal guys, I made them super high waisted so they give you a synched waist, lift your butt, and make your legs look long and lean. Every detail from the stitching to the pockets to gold hardware was hand selected and designed by me. This is just the first of many styles to come so place your orders because there is only a limited quantity available! I hope you enjoy my baby, Second Skin Overalls. SSO for short.”
Second Skin Overalls are available now at secondskinoveralls.com.
